What’s the Root of Taylor Squared?

When two people with the same first name decide to hook up, there’s something about it that really weirds us out. Maybe it’s the innate narcissism. Or the potential for identity theft. Or the thing where, whether or not they want to, they’re each bound to shout out their own name in bed. In this case, the same-namers are lovable country music star Taylor Swift and Twilight Series “New Moon” hottie Taylor Lautner. Ever since they were snapped filming make-out scenes for Valentine’s Day, next year’s chick-flick extraordinaire, rumors have been a-flyin’ about their coupledom.

Since the grand smoochfest, their relationship has become major grist for the gossip mill. Lautner showed up at the Chicago stop on Swift’s “Fearless” tour and cuddled up to her after she sang “Fifteen.” Then, a late-night Lautner was spotted at Swift’s hotel after taking in a hockey game at the Staples Center. Then, we ate really good pizza and kind of stopped caring, because with that much “accidental” publicity, things started to seem a little hinky. Call us cynics, but with the release of “New Moon” just around the corner, all this Taylor-on-Taylor brouhaha felt like it could be a well-timed PR stunt.

So is “Team Tay” the real deal, or just a Hollywood hoax? (Please don’t let that name stick.) Luckily for them, their hot-and-botheredness has nothing to do with the machinations of the publicity machine. Hope these two Taylors have a “license to flirt” because that’s exactly what Moonit predicts they’re doing whenever they’re working together. And their relationship assessment goes on to say that “from day one, there’s some serious sexual tension brewing between these two”.

They also tend to be “super feisty with each other…have tons of fun together…and, since they both have a competitive side, that flirty rivalry can ratchet up the sparks as soon as they get in each other’s sights.” Puppy love aside, their prognosis for friendship and long-term compatibility is solid, too. Moonit pegs them as “Home Depot personified.” It looks like they’re able to “seamlessly fit into each other’s daily routines and are all about growth, self improvement and personal fixer-upper projects.” With a read-out like that, even we can get on board with Team Tay.
