Is Penelope Getting Married?

After blinging out the Broken Embraces premiere with a rather large sapphire-and-diamond sparkler, Penelope Cruz is once again facing rumors that she and boyfriend Javier Bardem are engaged. If Bardem’s trying (a la Beyonce’s sage advice) to put a ring on it, Cruz certainly isn’t fessing up to it any time soon.

When questioned by David Letterman, Penelope stayed secretive, insisting, “I don’t feel comfortable talking about my private life in public.” Her tight-lipped response is no big surprise, especially since these two smoking-hot Spanish actors have been intensely guarded about their relationship. Since neither camp is giving up much more than a dismissive, “They’re together–get over it,”  Moonit decided to go behind the scenes to check out their relationship potential.

Lo and behold, it looks like Javier’s mom, Pilar, got it right when she advised Bardem to tie the knot with the brunette bombshell. According to Javier and Penelope’s birth date analysis, “it’s like there’s a force larger than life drawing him to her magnetic personality, telling him to be around her as much as possible if he wants to grow and achieve his true potential.” Their assessment goes on to say that, “pretty soon, wherever they go together, they’re the ‘it’ couple. They entertain the people who matter, they’re effortlessly ‘on’ all the time, and they’re confident and comfortable in any situation.” Well, natch. Have you seen them?

Even still, we’d be remiss if we didn’t check out their professional compatibility. Given that they’ve worked with each other on several different occasions–think 1992’s Jamon, Jamon and 2008’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona–and that they both earned Oscars in the same year, we’re less than shocked that Moonit says they have “the Midas touch.” Our readout indicates that their success is, “the by-product of her contacts and ability to turn everything she touches into gold, and his creative vision and organizational skills.” What can we say? We’re sold.
